Burn the Boats, Canelo
Canelo Álvarez is no longer king. Ten years at the summit, defending belts, stacking checks, and brushing off challengers like gnats in the summer heat and now the crown is gone. Bud Crawford walked him down and robbed him blind, coming away with a dominant victory by decision, leaving the red-headed warlord without a strap for the first time in over a decade.
So, what now? This is the part where most fighters ease off the throttle, buy a few more racehorses, and start counting the commas in their bank accounts. But Canelo isn’t most fighters. He’s still a predator, even if the gold is gone.
The only sane thing left is well more insanity dear. Burn the boats NOW. Forget the safe defenses, the cherry-picked mandatories, the soft landings. There’s nothing left to protect only redemption to chase.
Bivol is still out there, still haunting him. That first fight was a masterclass in Russian precision, and it stung badly. A rematch would be even more brutal, but the kind of brutal that could wipe the slate clean if Alvarez pulls it off.
And then there’s David Benavídez, the ravenous beast lurking in the shadows, swinging for the franchise and head hunting all comers with vicious intent. Canelo can’t duck him forever. That fight is blood, destruction, and legacy rolled into one and something the boxing fans need to see before Canelo rides off into the sunset.
At this point, Canelo has nothing left to lose but his pride and maybe that’s the fuel he needs. No more belts, no more safety nets. Just the plunge into the abyss.
If he takes it, win or lose, we’ll know the truth: whether Canelo Álvarez was just another carefully curated hype-train… or a man brazen enough and willing enough to torch it all for one last chance at redemption.

I’ve always believed in showing up with heart when the chips are down, even when the odds are stacked.
